Meet Dr. Robert D. Thomas

Dr. Robert D. Thomas is a board-certified otolaryngologist and sleep medicine physician at ENT Medical Services in Iowa City, providing care for patients of all ages with ear, nose, throat, and sleep-related conditions.

Dr. Thomas grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Ohio University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was named Chemistry Student of the Year. He went on to attend medical school at The Ohio State University, graduating cum laude and earning induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

In 1999, Dr. Thomas began residency training in Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa, where he completed his training and became board certified. Following residency in 2004, he practiced medicine in Chicago for 15 years, gaining extensive clinical experience.

In 2008, Dr. Thomas obtained board certification in Sleep Medicine after completing specialized training. He returned to Iowa City in 2020 to join ENT Medical Services and now treats patients of all ages for general ENT conditions as well as sleep disorders.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Thomas enjoys marathon running, hiking, traveling, watching sports, and spending time with his wife, an Iowa City native, and their daughter.
