Elyse K. Hanly

M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Hanly was born in New York City and spent most of her childhood years in Massachusetts. She graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. During her time at Washington University, Dr. Hanly played on the women’s collegiate soccer team which reached the National Championship. She continued her education at New York Medical College where she earned her MD degree as well her PhD degree in Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Hanly’s residency was completed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she served as the Department of Otolaryngology Chief Resident. Her scientific and clinical research regarding cancers of the thyroid and head and neck is published in several well-known medical journals.

Dr. Hanly lives with her husband and is happy to call Iowa home. She enjoys team sports, fishing, biking, and being outdoors.
